Hey !
I'm feeling pretty good! Umm, you know, in case you were wondering...
I've been working a lot with Price to sort of plan out the rest of the year and get a lock on the schedule for the next Gloomhaven expansion. And I'm feeling pretty good about all of it. I feel like I've sort of been floundering for that last year or two on getting stuff done for this expansion. It's a huge project, and there have been a
lot of distractions. But not only is Price getting rid of those distractions, he's also helping me focus on getting this stuff done, so I think it's going to be a lot more effective than writing a blog post at the beginning of the year and hoping for the best.
Have I mentioned that Price is great? Because he is.
So, you know, I'm not announcing anything now or anything. We do have a good idea for when we will be announcing things, but, umm, yeah, look, this is still a long time off. Still lots of stuff to put in place, and I don't want to build up people's anticipations just yet. I mean, I know, just writing all this out is probably doing that, so I'm a
hypocrite, but let's not worry about that and just move on.

Because what we should be talking about is the expansion that is about to actually come out. The official street date for Forgotten Circles is in two weeks, May 28. We've already been getting some good feedback from pre-orders in the US, many of whom have already received their copy, but I hope many more people will get to experience the wild
ride Marcel created. I'm really happy with how all the lore turned out, and so I also hope people will be interested in find out more about the world and those who inhabit it.
So, yeah, you can find it in stores in two weeks, or you could also pick it up at one of the four conventions Cephalofair Games will have a booth at this year!
Okay, maybe four doesn't sound like an impressive number to you, but it's a big deal to me, because we normally just do Gen Con and Essen, so this is double the conventions! Amazing!
So, cool, let's transition over to a segment I'd like to call "Where can I find Isaac this year?" Because I'd like to tell you all about not only the conventions we'll have a booth at, but also the many conventions I will be attending as a normal person or special guest or whatever else. In chronological order, because we're not monsters.
Geekway to the West, May 16-19: Yeah, I know, short notice. In two whole days I'll be headed down to St. Louis with my wife for the first big con of the year. I will be a regular person at this convention, which means I will be all about playing as many games as I can with my wife, my friends, and anyone else willing to join me. If you see me wandering
around, looking for a game, flag me down and put a game in front of me. Or, alternately, I am always interested in play testing the games I am working on, which means that if you find me at the right time, you might get me to teach you What We Found There, or my extremely rudimentary version of Dark Tower, sans any actual cool-looking
tower.
HeavyCon, May 23-26: Then, just a week later, I'll be on a flight to Boston as convention season heats up. My wife is busy that weekend, so I will be all alone and in desperate need of people to play heavy games with me. Offers to play test my prototypes will still be welcomed. Maybe Dark Tower will be less full of
hand-written notes by that point, but who am I kidding? There will probably just be more hand-written notes.
Indy PopCon, June 7-9: I am a special guest at Indy PopCon this year! This is exciting because it is a larger pop culture convention with all sorts of way more famous guests, but somehow I am a guest as well. Not quite special enough to be featured on their front
page, apparently, so you'll just have to trust me on this. Indy PopCon doesn't have much of a focus on board gaming, but they tell me they are trying to expand in that area, so I'm looking forward to it. I am even organizing a panel for the first time, so I am really hoping that goes well. It will be about how to get started working in the board game industry. It doesn't have an official time yet, but I am hoping Saturday afternoonish.
Origins, June 12-16: We will have a Cephalofair Games booth at Origins! Yay! Price has been working a lot on improving our booth presence. Better displays, more merch, etc. We picked up an Origins booth kind of last-minute, so the full roll-out of cool stuff won't be there, but we'll have at least couple exciting things, as
well as Forgotten Circles, Founders, and plenty of demo space. I may not be at the booth too much, as I wanted to keep Origins a "normal person con" for me and my wife, but I'll still end up stopping by frequently.
I'll then be doing some non-convention traveling. Family vacations and whatnot, and then we'll be back on the convention circuit with...
Gen Con, August 1-4: We'll have a bigger booth at Gen Con! Yay! For the past three years, we've been stuck in a 10'x10' space, which was a little soul-crushing, but we finally got upgraded to a 20'x10' and we're gonna put the space to good use with the full roll-out of awesome stuff. I'm really looking forward
to this, and I'll be working in the booth when I'm not in meetings. I love meeting all the Gloomhaven fans who come out to the booth at Gen Con.
What is this awesome stuff teaser? A Mindthief pin? (Work in progress)
SHUX, October 4-6: So I told Justin at Restoration Games that I was planning on going to SHUX, and that I would be okay running some Dark Tower demos, and the next hing I know, I am a special guest. Special enough to even get featured on their front page, so that's cool. And apparently I'll be running Dark Tower demos? I don't actually have a lot of info about this one yet, but I am positive it will be a good time no matter what.
Essen Spiel, October 24-27: And then, of course, Spiel, with a booth. I'll be at the booth most of the time so we can show Europe our new and improved booth presence too.
BGG.Con, November 20-24: I'm going to Texas a bit early for this one to also participate in the Tabletop Network's Boardgame Designer's Retreat. Then my wife will come later in the week, and we will play games like regular people.
PAX Unplugged, December 6-8: I enjoyed PAXU so much last year, I'm coming back with a booth! Though, in all fairness, I might just be exhibiting so I can go through the exhibitor's entrance and not have to wait in line for hours to get in.
So that's not a 100% comprehensive list, but it's everything I'm for sure attending. I may squeeze a couple more in there if I'm feeling feisty, like GrandCon at the end of August, or Dice Tower Con at the start of July. That really depends on how our other summer vacations shake out. Dice Tower would definitely be guaranteed if the Galaxy's Edge thing at
Disneyworld were open by then, but apparently that doesn't open until 2 months later. Lame.
All right, well, that was a lot of text. I hope it was helpful, or entertaining, or something that could at least be classified as worthwhile. I'm gonna take off now, but I hope to see you somewhere on this list over the next year!
